Before we moved into our home a year and a half ago, many 20s volunteered to help renovate our house that we nicknamed the hub for the DFW Nav20s ministry we planted November 2015. In the midst of these renovations, our neighbors, Ethan and Paige, knocked on our door to meet us; to be intentional with us; to be Jesus to us as they live for Jesus “right where they live”. As they were already living out the vision of the Nav20s, they quickly jumped into the ministry of the Nav20s and were part of the launch and they are a special part of the Nav20s community. Ethan meets with me regularly to memorize and dig into scripture. Paige is a professional photographer who has blessed the Nav20s with amazing photos. They give Christ their excellence in their vocations.
This past December Ethan and Paige invited us to their Christmas party in their home. It was a party solely for their neighbors to meet them and to intentionally develop friendships with them. They had quite the spread of food and of course Paige’s famous chocolate chip cookies, which are by far the best chocolate chip cookies ever! They stewarded the resources God gives them and gave a gift to each neighbor that came to the party. The neighbors who did not come received a gift too. Ethan went and knocked on his neighbors’ door giving them a Christmas gift. Ethan and Paige live out the mission of the Nav20s… living for Christ and making disciples among their peers “right where they LIVE, work and play.” Ethan says he cannot imagine not knowing his neighbors and having a relationship with them. When Ethan and Paige moved into our neighborhood, Jesus did too:
The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish (John 1:14).
